Job Description

Role Summary:                                                                                                                     

Leads and executes wholesale sales and national account strategy for Canadian marketplace in order to meet & exceed sales and profitability plans under the guidance of the General Manager - Canada.  Specific focus on profitable new business channels of distribution; developing and meeting customer business plans by developing and driving the full sales life cycle; recruiting, leading, and directing a growing National Account Team and independent sales representative network.  Develop sales programs and strategies aligned with YCC brand standards, and Implement and guide effective relationship engagement plans at the senior level with all retailers in support of sales development strategies.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Create effective sales/marketing strategies across assigned National Accounts to achieve all wholesale sales, revenue goals and margin expectations, while creating & leading a dedicated sales organization and a retail- focused customer centric team for major national accounts.

Drive profitable growth, while executing NEW business and brand channel strategic plan.

Lead the development and execution of strategic customer business plans for all major national accounts across key channels of distribution - Food, Drug, DIY and Mass Channels.

Develop & implement "shared scorecards" with key retailers that support revenue & market share goals, analyze & monitor performance vs. metrics & adjust strategies & tactical execution as necessary in order to meet sales objectives.

Develop and implement customer and territory specific retail execution plans that ensure all retail sales and profit metrics are achieved.

Ensure that customer and territory specific input is provided through the Integrated Marketing function in support of the development of all corporate, brand and marketing strategies.

Develop and help manage the Canada Wholesale & Customer P and L's for major National Account retailers to ensure that YC Canada profitability goals are achieved.

Implement best practice category management initiatives focused on shopper insight development and activation.

Hire, train and motivate critical team support functions to ensure successful implementation of customer specific business plans.

Position Has Direct Reports:  Yes                

 

Financial Responsibilities:    Direct Wholesale P&L responsibilities, including all national account                          and independent territory strategies

 

Work Relationships (INTERNAL):  Works with all areas of the business to understand the needs as well as the "best practices" for each area. 

 

Work Relationships (EXTERNAL):  External relationship building with national and independent accounts to drive profitability and sales for YCC Canada and accounts.

Minimum Requirements:

 

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent, MBA an asset

 

Related Experience:

 

A minimum of 6+ years of successful and progressive sales experience; with 3-5 years of proven sales management experience; preferably within a direct sales environment or business development role.

 

Specific sales management or business development experience with key retailers within the mass, department , food & drug, Club and DIY channels of distribution

 

Solid leadership experience with demonstrated success in managing and cultivating and developing new accounts, sales channels and business relationships. 

 

Demonstrated successes in a sales environment with the ability to prospect, identify, qualify, and close business.  Must be able to sell internally and externally.  Must have detailed and demonstrated knowledge of the Canadian market.

 

Strong P&L or Cost Center Management experience.

Demonstrated Communication skills and the ability to operate with Diplomacy. Excellent Listener.

 

Solid Project Management experience with the ability to establish and meet deadlines. 

A High Sense of Urgency.

 

French language an asset

 

Working Conditions:

Flexibility in work schedule is required including the ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as operational need may require (i.e. trade show events). Up to 25-30% travel required.
